On top of setting confidentiality limits, another key principle in supporting students is around setting time boundaries.

Students often make informal approaches for support, at what can feel like the most difficult times. It’s important not to shut down a student looking for help, while recognising the limits of your working environment and the time you can allocate to each student’s need.

Sometimes our work settings are not appropriate for a support conversation. It is vital that you keep this in mind when responding to a student’s help-seeking behaviours.
